Large Walnut Cookie Jar (Already Claimed)

The body of this large jar with lid was made from a single piece of Ohio harvested and highly figured black walnut. It is about 14″ tall and 7 1/2″ in diameter. The handle was turned from a darker piece of walnut I had in my scrap pile. The finish is a simple shellac and beeswax, which is food safe and easy to repair.

I call this a cookie jar because that is about the size and shape, but I’m not sure I’d want to store cookies in it, only because it would not be very fun to clean out crumbs. I think it would be great for keeping wrapped candy or cookies, or any other non-food item you would like to squirrel away.

This item has already been claimed by a generous donor. However, I would be happy to make something similar for you!
